Join us in Riverside, California, for our
annual conference where we will explore the divisions that have shaped and continue to shape the Golden State.
CCPH welcomes a spectrum of professionals, academics, and avocationals who avidly promote history and public history
from a variety of perspectives. This year’s theme found its inspiration in the Civil War sesquicentennial that begins
this year. The political and ideological divides that threatened the Union during that war were expressed
here in California as well. But this was not the first or last division that the state would face.
The
list of divisive events and trends that have shaped California are many, and we seek conference papers and presentations that
expose the depth and breadth of their influence on the history of the state. This theme offers excellent opportunities for
examination of environmental, social, and political battles, whether these divisions occurred at the local level, or between
regions, or were statewide in scope.
Presentation formats may be individual
papers, or a complete panel or roundtable session. Panels and sessions must have at least three presenters.
Unconventional presentation formats are also welcome. Additionally, CCPH program coordinators may
be able to help you develop symposia or workshops that dovetail with other elements of the conference program still in process.
All presenters must register for the conference.
As always,
CCPH encourages presentations by students, new professionals, and local history practitioners. Information
on stipends for students and new professionals is available on the Conference Stipend page. Preference for stipends will be given to presenters.
